"....Proper Configuration of the Teaser Bet(s)

Merely choosing 2, 3, or 4 games to play in teaser format, and “hoping for the best”, is not the way to construct a teaser bet. Initially, you should strive to make a much consorted effort to eliminate games that “overlap” each other. Example: If a game that you like starts @ 1:00est, and so does 1 or 2 others, this is a bad thing. Now, allow me a bit of latitude as I tell you why…

Hypothetically speaking, if you were about to embark on a 4-team/13pt teaser, and all four games started at the same time; you’d have no chance to “hedge-out”! But, if your final part were to have a start time many hours after the other three parts had won; then you most certainly would be able to place a wager on your fourth team’s opposing team, and thus creating a natural 12-point “middle” in the process. If your 4th-part/team were a 13pt favorite, which you had taken down to a pick, then, by taking their opposition @ +13; you would now find yourself in a “No-Lose Situation”. And, if your original selection were to win by (1) and no more than (12); you just won a free bet! Assuming of course both wagers were made for the same amount.

I only play the 4-team/13pt teaser, and here’s the mathematical support as to “why”.

www.bodog.com allows one to make said wager at a price of -130 to win 100. But, the reality is: The price should actually be closer to -170 or -180. The only reason I can come-up with (as to why they only charge -130), is the fact that most persons making this type of wager; are doing so in a manner in which they cannot “hedge-out, i.e. (These individuals are doing a lot of “overlapping”).

In theory, if one were to intentionally construct a 4-teamer using a noon game, a 3:30 game, a 7:30 game, and finally a 10:00est “West Coast Game”; the proper given odds would be approximately -180. Because, in constructing a teaser (in this manner); you’d now (theoretically) have the opportunity to hedge on a game-by-game basis, if you so desired. Overlapping games doesn’t afford you the same opportunities. Below, is a very real hypothetical situation (that you may encounter, this football season), and it should help you have a better understanding of what I’m talking about...."
